On the 30th September 2020, there were 5 of us who went to Beetle and Wedge Moulsford on Thames for lunch.
Three of us including me ordered a drink called St Clement (a mix of orange juice and bitter lemon) and the other two ordered just mango juice.
The St. Clement drink came in a slim glass, we looked at each other thinking a small drink. Normally this drink comes in a larger glass, but we didn’t think much of it until we received the bill.
To our surprise the St Clement drink was charged as two drinks. The orange juice at a price of £2.85, the bitter lemon at a price of £2.20. Total £ 5.05 for a small soft drink, I normally have this St Clement drink in pubs/restaurants and it normally cost about £2-£3. Whereas the mango juice at a price of £2.85 in a larger glass is reasonable.
I questioned this with the waiter, the excuse was they don’t have orange juice in a carton, so they opened bottles instead. We paid the bill instead and afterwards we all said we should had refused to pay £5.05 for such a small drink.
We felt we had been ripped off and felt disgusted that they are charging people such a high price for a soft drink, this is more expensive than their a glass of wine costing £4.90.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to visit this place. Overall we felt this place is only thinking of just taking money in.
