Much of its tropical kitsch was culled during this cool cabana's 2015 reboot, and Barrio's meaner, leaner, new retro pose (all mango, cream and jungle greens) struts in like 70s police detective Shaft in Spanish Harlem. Rock up early for 'amigo hour', when drinks are pimped out at criminally low prices. Get the Barrio block party started with, say, a Malibu Stacey, The Hoodrat, Brazilian Lady (organic cachaça, passion fruit and lemon) or Ol' Dirty Bastard (a bourbon, rum and orange Old Fashioned); otherwise share the spoils from a Zombie, Paloma or Rub-a-Tub tiki punchbowl. With quesadillas, tacos, burritos and other Latino nibbles on offer, plus boog-a-loo, bossa nova, salsa, funk and soulful beats, this cool slice of Puerto Rico on Poland Street really swings.
