Al Molo is a restaurant in Dorchester serving traditional Italian cuisine, with focus on flavours of the sea. Chef Giuseppe and his team use locally sourced fresh fish and shellfish wherever possible, to use alongside local produce and the finest Italian ingredients.
Al Molo update their menus throughout the year to ensure they're using the best seasonal ingredients, so there's always something new to try whenever you visit. The starters include seared scallops with burnt aubergine, mixed exotic mushrooms, and basil and garlic paste, cod and onion croquettes with apple coulis and basil mayonnaise, and homemade smoked salmon with pickled fennel and crispy vegetables.
For the main course menu, the focus is on seafood but there are still meat dishes available. Or combine the two with their surf and turf - beef steak and lobster served with garlic fries. The seafood dishes include pan-fried mackerel with a citrus salad, cuttlefish risotto, Mediterranean-style cod with olives, shallots, parsley and tomato, and turbot with wild forest mushrooms, mint pea purée and purple potatoes. Or try a seafood platter, featuring clams, mussels, prawns, oysters, lobster and crab, available on pre-order only. The restaurant also offers a tasting menu of fish dishes that must be pre-ordered, at £75 per person.
The meat dishes available are sous vide roast chicken stuffed with ham and sage butter, and served with white wine sauce and mashed potatoes, and a grilled beef fillet with rocket and Parmesan garlic fries.
There's also a children's menu with simple pasta dishes and scampi with fries and salad.
The dessert menu features Italian favourites such as tirimasu with amaretto and vanilla panna cotta. Or try a selection of Italian cheeses, biscuits, chutney and honeycomb for a different taste of Italy.
Drinks-wise, Al Molo serves a range of Italian-inspired cocktails including a Limocello spritz and a negroni. The range of Italian wines is also extensive, perfect to enjoy with the seafood dishes at Al Molo.
