The gallery was founded in 1901 and has become a globally-recognised beacon of ground-breaking art, representing a whole host of international creatives. The building's exterior is stunning and showcases historic features, formally part of Whitechapel Public Library, and today a beautiful contrast to the sleek, modern interiors.
Inside, the space is comprised of nine exhibition spaces, a fully equipped auditorium, a variety of study and studio spaces as well as a specialist bookshop and cafe. Between these spaces, six are available to hire, offering a mix of studios, gallery rooms, the auditorium and foyer.
For a large, bustling drinks reception, the Grade II Listed Foyer is perfect. Enter through the original stone arch entrance and marvel at the triple height ceiling, statement staircase and contemporary artworks, where you can host up to 250 people.
While, the breath-taking galleries allow your event to unfold next to the latest exhibitions, offering a totally unique setting alongside curated works. The former central reading room of the Whitechapel Library, Gallery 2 is particularly special thanks to its original Victorian features, exposed brickwork and polished concrete floor, with a capacity of 200 people standing or 150 seated.
Catering is not provided in house, but the team have established connections with some brilliant caterers across London and beyond, and have put together a thorough list of approved suppliers. They can also help you with floristry options, entertainment and photography. Plus, when it comes to utilising the space's tech equipment, there are options to add a half or full day tech support for lighting, sound, presentation screens and more.
