A stunning four-storey Victorian pub in Maida Vale, the private dining rooms at The Hero have been lovingly restored to showcase its heritage. While the interiors showcase the building’s 1878 heritage, menus at The Hero are modern and unafraid, offering a mixture of comforting pub favourites on the ground floor and refined grill plates served upstairs.
Set on the second floor, the private dining room at The Hero accommodates up to 12 guests on a central table amidst tasteful decor and ambient lighting. It’s ideal for intimate dinner parties or smaller corporate celebrations with sharting dishes served from The Grill kitchen. Comforting, and confident, the dishes from The Grill are modern British with a gastropub tilt. Think tartare with red Leicester to start, followed by pork loin with apple, elderflower and peaches.
Larger and more informal events take form in The Loft, an airy space that radiates the familiar warmth of a country kitchen. With an open-plan New York inspired layout, raw pink plastered walls, a log burner, exposed wood features, and a central table to seat up to 30 guests. Naturally, private dining in The Loft is all about feasting. With dishes from The Pub kitchen, such as cod cheeks in a curry sauce, lamb ribs, and lamb shoulder with braised potatoes. To finish, choices include sticky toffee pudding, summer berry jelly, and lemon tarts.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for a reception rather than a sit-down meal, you’ll find a more than suitable solution in The Library. A cosy spot for cocktails, it’s available Mondays and Tuesdays for private canape events backed by nostalgic vinyl records. Canapes are similarly elevated, from miniature scotch eggs to oysters and mackerel pate. Cocktails can be ordered in large quantities, so The Hero will keep the Margaritas coming.
