Rutland, sometimes known by the archaic name of Rutlandshire, is a county in the East Midlands. This county has much charm to it. First up, you may want to enjoy the water, after all, there is lots of it. Swim in the reservoir, go out on a canoe or head to the green reserves to spot the ospreys. Rutland Water is one of Europe's largest man-made lakes, and is an enchanting wonderland that is waiting to be explored. If staying on land is more your thing, head to the pretty market towns of Oakham and Uppingham, and spend some time visiting the boutiques and antique shops.
