Every venue has its USP and for The Upper Deck in Cornwall's Rock, its location is unbeatable. Situated right on the beach edge, this two-floor restaurant has stunning views out across the water and so, whether you're planning an event throughout the day, to catch sunset or even a night when the moonlight reflects off the waves, your guests will be blown away by this unique setting.
The restaurant itself has a relaxed feel with cool, industrial-style decor that lets the surrounding natural beauty do the talking. Think wooden flooring and rustic, cladded walls, huge crittal-style windows which flood the space with natural light and authentic touches, like exposed brick and stone walls. Whether it be a big family gathering, birthday party or even a corporate event, The Upper Deck is a versatile space with a friendly, engaged team that are excited to make your gathering happen.
When it comes to the food and drinks offering, The Upper Deck is all about locality. As you might expect, on the menu you'll find an impressive selection of fresh seafood caught by local fishermen, as well as dishes that showcase nearby growers and farmers, too. As for drinks, the team are passionate about Cornish beers, as well as locally-made spirits.
Up to 100 of your guests are invited to dine in or outside, and without a set group menu, you'll be invited to order from the main a la carte. First up, why not start with a selection of small plates to share, such as Porthilly mussels in cream, saffron and garlic sauce, alongside devilled whitebait and crispy baby squid.
When it comes to mains, we like the sound of pan roasted hake with Porthilly mussels, chorizo, samphire and new potatoes, as well as Katsu cauliflower curry with spring onion and red pepper. If you fancy something sweet, check out the roving desserts, often featuring Cornish ice cream.
