If you're looking for somewhere to host a special occasion, how does a recently renovated, boutique hotel, housed in a Grade II Listed building, in the heart of one of the UK's most magical areas sound? The Stroud is a locally-loved, stylish hotel with good, honest food at its heart, which can be found amongst the winding streets of the market town that shares its name. Perfect for locals or those coming from further afield, the train to Paddington takes only an hour and a half, making this a hotspot of the Cotswolds.
Whether you're planning a birthday party, wedding or even snazzy corporate event, the friendly team at The Stroud are here to help. While you'll find a gorgeous restaurant on the ground floor, there's also a completely private, exclusive-use events suite towards the back of the building that benefits from plenty of natural light, a muted interiors scheme and period features, like ceiling beams and rustic, stone walls.
Here, up to 60 guests can be hosted for a seated meal, or if you'd prefer something more dynamic like a buffet or drinks and canapes reception, the capacity can be increased to 90. As mentioned, the team at The Stroud are passionate about food and so catering is provided in house, with plenty of options which can be found in the online brochure.
For a flavour of what to expect, though, for the three course meal we like the sound of pressed ham hock and pea terrine on melba toasts, alongside slow braised Angus beef and cask Guiness pie with honey-glazed carrots and mash potatoes for mains. While, those with a sweet tooth will love the classic apple and brown sugar crumble.
Another brilliant thing about planning your event here is the other on-site facilities. For example, the cocktail bar just next door is a great place to greet guests and treat them to a welcome cocktail, and with 24 boutique bedrooms upstairs, you can reserve beds ahead so there's somewhere for your friends to rest their heads.
