If you’re looking for a charming riverside venue in Oxford, The Folly is just the place. This family-run, independent restaurant has numerous features that make it an excellent venue for all manner of events. There are dining domes, perfect for intimate dinners under the stars, a floating terrace for pre-dinner drinks and a stylish dining room which features an impressive vaulted skylight. The restaurant itself can host up to 70 standing guests or 50 sitting, while the domes can host up to 30 guests (standing or sitting).

The house cocktails are the perfect way to kick things off, with options like The Folly sunset, a summery blend of white rum, orange juice, mango, vanilla and lime juice. For something a little bubblier, try the strawberry and basil martini or go for a classic bellini. Local craft ales are on hand for beer enthusiasts, with False Economy, Jobsworth and Inside Out all making appearances on the roster. There’s also a dedicated selection of gin and tonics, with flavours like cucumber, juniper or strawberry on offer. In terms of grapes, there’s quite an impressive wine list, with old and new world wines by the glass, carafe or bottle. Sparkling options start at an affordable Prosecco and run all the way up to Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle.
For sit-down events, diners can start off with a platter of homemade bread, butter, olive oil and Womersley cherry balsamic. Elsewhere, there’s a tapas selection with hummus and olives too. Starters here are elegant and varied, with options like butternut squash soup paired with a blue cheese beignet, chicken liver parfait with chicken fat brioche and quince chutney or sweet and mozzarella arancini with charred corn, romesco and lime gel. Mains are a meatier affair, with entries like a showstopping venison loin with roasted beetroot farro, compressed blackberries and a rosemary and chocolate jus.
