While London may be brimming with potential venues for your next event, it can be hard to find somewhere that feels just right. But, if you love authentic Greek cuisine cooked with love and you're on the hunt for an atmospheric space full of character, Tavernaki could be the place for you.
Tavernaki is a charming Greek restaurant with an amazing location in the heart of Notting Hill, right on Portobello Road. Located close to plenty of public transport links your guests will be able to get to you easily, and there's a buzzing warren of late-night options in case you want to keep the party going, all on your doorstep.
Tavernaki is a family-run restaurant and the kitchen is led by head chef Stavros Christou, who ensures heart and soul goes into every plate. While the restaurant doesn't appear to have a private dining room, the team are so excited to host you and would love to talk through your special event and what they can do to help. Simply email or call to talk about food, party size, space and any other touches.
As for the food, there's lots to choose and all plates adhere to traditional Greek flavours. To start off with get stuck into the likes of kolokithokeftedes which is Greek courgette fritters with homemade yogurt sauce and some garides saganaki, which brings together prawns, garlic, feta cheese, tomato sauce, basil and ouzo.
For mains, choose dishes cooked in the oven or over the grill, such as slow cooked lamb with rosemary, thyme, garlic, feta cheese and served with baby potatoes, or perhaps stuffed aubergines with beef mince cooked in tomato sauce. If your group has a sweet tooth, the Mastiha flavoured ice cream, served with biscuits and homemade sour cherry spoon-sweet, sounds absolutely delicious.
