This new martini lounge in the
Great Northern Hotel blends polished opulence with a contemporary edge. Deep colours, rich textures, statement lighting and a magnificent collection of artwork make this
Kings Cross newcomer the spot to impress clients over well-turned cocktails. Oh, and we hear there’s still some availability for Christmas gatherings.
Groups of 12 to 120 can get together for a glamorous party at
Anthracite with bespoke food and drink menus (with bespoke pricing) on offer. There’s also no room hire – score! The space’s layout is interesting for events: hidden alcoves connect lounge-style rooms that work well for both meetings and drinks receptions. You can even take over the whole space for a party.
Formerly bedroom suites, this jazzy lounge is the most recent of three bars at architect Lewis Cubbitt’s 1850s Italianate railway hotel, now lavishly refurbished and at the heart of buzzy, born-again
King’s Cross. All coal black walls, honey and treacle-tone woods, flame blue upholstery and funky glass chandeliers, the dramatic chambers’ focal point is a zinc à la parisienne.
Elegantly presented vodka and gin martinis are at the fore: our Drumshanbo Irish Gunpowder Tea gin is a favourite new dalliance. Elsewhere, the umami appeal of a twisted Hanky Panky in which Hungarian herbal liquer, Zwack, replaces the expected Fernet Branca. The chilli and cumin kick of smoky mezcal and tequila old fashioned, Anticuado, are further testimony to competent mixology.
