Travel past the Royal Hospital Chelsea site and you’ll see ‘the build’ already well under way for this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which runs from 22 to 26 May. From the front gates, there’s a direct view to the implausibly large Grand Pavilion, which in a little over a week will house the nation’s finest blooms.
Peep your head over the fence on Chelsea Bridge Road, though, and you’ll find the leafy location of this year’s
Jardin Blanc hospitality enclosure, where Raymond Blanc OBE will be entertaining the great and the good with his fine fare.
But it’s not just what’s edible that we’re excited about this year, because newbie gin brand Warner Edwards will be representing too, offering guests a one-off spirit to celebrate the event. The Chelsea Garden Gin will, in fact, be distilled live on site, and promises to include ‘white-petal’ botanicals (marigold, jasmine and orange blossom among them) to reflect all things Blanc.
It wasn't all that long ago that the
Warner Edwards team invited us to their rather idyllic farm-cum-distillery in Northamptonshire for a fun away day. Naturally, we worked our way through a handsome measure of the good stuff, while seeing exactly how it’s made. Corporate groups are invited to book the farm’s tasting room and bar for a meeting before doing a tour and having lunch in the local.
