Beer tasting, wine tasting, gin tasting especially – they’re all over the capital. Rum tastings, however –though not non-existent – are not. Good news then that the Spiced Dry Rum Club at
Laki Kane is filling the gap in the market.
Your group or clients will get their tropical fix at this rum-dedicated bar, which now offers a two-and-a-half hour tasting experience. Not only is it ideal for groups, it also offers a world-first: visitors will be able to re-distil rum and add exotic fruit and spices to it to create their very own, bespoke bottle of rum (to keep).
The design of the Spiced Dry Rum Club is influenced by the 17th century maritime rum trade (think Pirates of The Caribbean) with ancient maps, brass lighting, ship sails and fish nets decorating the walls – nice.
As well as being surrounded by the club’s good looks, you’ll taste plenty of premium rums and learn about the art of cocktail pairing – all while sampling
Laki Kane’s food. This will be under guidance of Georgi Radev (the former global director of
Mahiki), so you’ll be in good hands.
The experience is available from 12 October and can sit either 12 people at the main Pusser’s Rum Ship table or seven at the Captain’s Table (you can always combine the two if you want). Each guest will be seated at a hand-crafted copper alembic pot still.
Prices start at £120pp, which includes food and drinks during the session, a gift bag with
Laki Kane products, plus the 700ml bottle of rum to take home. Further bespoke packages are available on request.
