Mulled Wine

Possibly the best mulled wine we've ever had was at tiny Shoreditch bar Casita - which happens to be one of our favourite haunts. They were kind enough to share the recipe with me, and here it is. This is perfect for a party, as it makes a large batch.

Ingredients

2 bottles light, fruity red wine (such as Merlot)
150ml Gosling's Black Seal Rum
150ml Courvoisier VSOP
75ml Armagnac
50ml Monin Ginger Syrup
50g brown sugar
20 drops Fee Brothers Plum Bitters
2 tsp nutmeg
1 cinnamon stick

Method

1

Glass: Jam jar

2

Add all ingredients to a large pan and heat over a medium heat, stirring occasionally.

3

When you're satisfied with the temperature (be patient, it will take some time)

4

Start ladling it out into the jars - or other receptacles if you prefer

5

Garnish with an orange wedge with two cloves stuck in it
