Widely believed to be the precursor to the martini (which itself used to have far more vermouth in than our dry tastes today demand), the Martinez is a little sweeter, with more nuanced flavours.

Ingredients

35ml Bols Genever
35ml Martini Rosso
½ tsp Merlet Trois Citrus
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Method

Glass: Chilled martini

Measure all the ingredients into a mixing glass

Stir until they are well chilled

Strain in the glass

Garnish with a sharply shaped lemon rind
