If Christmas is all about conviviality and having a bit of fun with friends, family or colleagues, where better to do that than at Hawksmoor? The all-conquering steak restaurant chain has spread far and wide since first opening in Spitalfields in 2006, and punters come back time and time again, not just for those excellent steaks, but also for the infectious Hawksmoor spirit that pervades all these restaurants. It really is hard not to have a good time here, and as a result, Hawksmoor has become an incredibly popular Christmas party venue. That's just as true for Hawksmoor Borough as anywhere else, especially given its proximity to London Bridge station.
Hawksmoor Borough boasts a single private dining room - called the Cooks' Room - where up to 18 guests can sit down and tuck into a classic Hawksmoor spread of starters, steaks, sauces, sides and sweets. The room itself is clad in white butchers tiles, whilst leather-bound seating and wood floors give it a classy steakhouse vibe. We always recommend arriving hungry to Hawksmoor, because the sharing menus available to private groups really pull out all the stops. Menus are available in three price tiers, with different options available at each tier - starters include lighter options like mackerel salad or beef fillet carpaccio, as well as roasted scallops or Old Spot pork belly ribs.
Hawksmoor would be nothing without the steaks - expect rump and sirloin at the more affordable end, and chateaubriand and porterhouse at the top. All the steaks arrive in cast-iron skillets with a selection of sides and sauces. Meat-free alternatives include a charcoal-grilled monkfish or ricotta dumplings with peas, broad beans and asparagus. Finally, finish with a choice of sumptuous desserts such as sticky toffee pudding, rhubarb pavlova, or a selection of Neal’s Yard cheeses.
Don't sleep on Hawksmoor's excellent cocktails either - if there was ever a time to sample the drinks menu at length, it's Christmas!
