Clerkenwell is experiencing something of a revival as a restaurant and bar destination and The Localist adds to the growing number of new arrivals in EC1. The industrial-chic setting features exposed brick walls and wooden floors, juxtaposed with peacock-blue velvet chairs and a glass atrium. The modern European menu makes its way around the classics, including Brit staples such as sirloin steak, stacked burgers and fish & chips. For those with more continental tastes, there are also the likes of fritto misto, mussel linguine and grilled sea bass. The bar turns out cocktails, craft beers and wine, while there’s also a set lunch menu and weekend brunch available.
