The Star Inn benefits from a charming backdrop, set in the idyllic village of Sparsholt. Here it has stood since 1720, but as the team say, it's a relative newcomer in a village whose church dates back to the 14th century. Nevertheless, you'll notice its beautiful Georgian architecture throughout with exposed wooden beams and large windows which create an airy feel.
While there's a sense of history here, the team have done an incredible job at modernising the facilities and decor with chic, sophisticated interiors, especially in the private dining room which is where wedding breakfasts are held. Here, neutral-toned walls, mid century-style seating and simple styling create a timeless look that's perfect for low-key gatherings focused on good food, wine and company. The space has capacity for up to 30 people and can be reconfigured however you like, with plenty of opportunities for decorations and floral installations, too. There are three different wedding packages available, whether you’re wanting to keep things simple or if you’re wanting to go all in, each with different drinks and food options available to make sure the day is everything you’ve dreamed.
Catering is provided in house but can be customised to suit your wants and needs. The team, headed up by Head Chef Luke Sutton takes a local and quality sourcing approach when it comes to the ingredients used in each dish. Here, menus showcase the very best of British cuisine, from a seasonal a la carte to bar snacks and small plates on the terrace menu.
The Star Inn can also cater to your accommodation needs, boasting a selection of eight boutique rooms in a converted barn just next to the pub. There's a selection of double and twin rooms available, each decorated individually.
