About Birtsmorton Court

Birtsmorton Court is a wedding venue near Malvern in Worcestershire. First mentioned in the Domesday Book, the house is built on foundations dating from 1241. Much of the current structure was built in the 15th century and then remodelled in 1572. The result is a superb example of Tudor country house design. Bristmorton’s double moat design is one of a handful remaining in Britain. These are filled from streams in the Malvern Hills via a large collecting pond to the west of the house, known as the Westminster Pool because it is believed to have been dug to the same dimensions as the nave in Westminster Abbey in the same year as its consecration. The house has been home to the Dawes family for the last 50 years.

It is licensed to conduct civil ceremonies. These take place both indoors and outdoors. Indoor ceremonies are held in one of three rooms. The Great Hall dates from the 13th century and is the oldest room in the manor. It has a large open fireplace, timbered walls, and a stunning William and Mary ceiling that was added in the late 17th century. This room can hold up to 80 guests.

The Linney is filled with natural light and offers views overlooking the formal gardens. Its large windows can be opened in the summer providing direct access to the terrace and beyond. It can seat up to 150 guests. The Barn, with its oak beams and fairy light canopy, is ideal for a winter wedding. Bristmorton also has a church in its grounds so it can cater for religious ceremonies. St. Thomas of Canterbury with St. Pete and St. Paul was originally the house’s private chapel and is now accessed through a picturesque tree-lined path.

Drinks receptions are typically served on the terrace, allowing guests to take in the view of the surrounding Malvern Hills. The wedding breakfast is hosted in The Linney. This can be personalised to almost any extent, with the couple working alongside a dedicated wedding manager to make this happen. By partnering with a group of outstanding local caterers, Britsmorton can offer diverse food options, ranging from traditional three course sit down meals to buffets.
