Talbooth Restaurant is all about great food, great service and the great location on the banks of the River Stour. We’re certain you’ll love it and want to return with anyone who did not join you on your first visit.
The food is carefully designed, meticulously prepared and exquisitely presented. And then there’s the taste. Taste is never easy to communicate in words so we thought we would talk you through a few menu choices…
Mersea Crab Tartlet with Avocado, preserved lemon and pickled radish, or English Asparagus with smoked egg mayonnaise and black garlic to start. Followed by Gruyere crusted halibut, farfalle, tiger prawns, peas and sauce Americaine or fillet of dry aged Dedham Vale beef and short rib, chestnut mushroom, boulangere potatoes, shallot rings and watercress for your main course, and maybe Rhubarb and Vanilla Parfait, macerated raspberries and pistachio or Blueberry Souffle with maple and yoghurt sorbet, followed by coffee and hand-made chocolates.

Dress guidance at Talbooth Restaurant: We are often asked about the dress code in the restaurant. Many of our guests dress up for a visit to Talbooth Restaurant and as such feel uncomfortable when fellow diners are not suitable attired. For this reason we ask that our guests adhere to a ‘smart casual’ dress code and not arrive in ‘short shorts’ and flip flops. Thank you.

We keep an extensive wine list in stock for all occasions. Wines from all countries and many varieties are served by the glass, half bottles and full bottles.
Larger formats are available for those of you seeking a long and lazy lunch or an evening dinner that creeps more closely to the next day than the one in which it began.
We have wines by the glass beginning at £5, as well as a healthy stock of celebrated vintages such as the 1992 Château Petrus, Pomerol. We are delighted and honoured to have Moët as our house Champagne, as well as a 1996 Dom Pérignon.
Whatever you decide, our wine sommelier is on hand (if you need him) to assist in your choices and pair your wines with your food.
