Jimmy Garcia is somewhat of a legend in the London pop-up scene. Beginning over a decade ago with a supper club in his front room, he has now well and truly coined South Bank summer dining after hosting his various foodie concepts looking over the river, year after year.
This summer Jimmy is back, taking up residence at The Somerset House with a new tapas menu boasting flavours of the Mediterranean. Here, you'll find the site’s outdoor rooftop terrace with wicker seating spread across the patio, and a large stretch tent donned with fairy lights. An archway invites visitors to the San Miguel Terrace, adorned with bright and vibrant floral decor that brings the space to life.
The menu is inspired by Jimmy’s heritage, showcasing his family roots with these Spanish dishes. Be sure to choose a selection of dishes from the tapas menu including classic dishes such as the patatas bravas with a burnt chilli and tomato fondue, the caramelised onion and potato tortilla served with alioli or a selection of deep fried jamon serrano croquetas. Other options see the likes of manchego with Brixton honey and salted almonds or a courgette carpaccio with burnt lemon and honey dressing.
For something a little smaller, but just as delicious, why not try one of the Catalan style flatbreads freshly baked in the coca oven? Toppings of nduja, smoked scamorza, courgette and stracciatella are all on offer as a delightful light bite, perfect for a summer's day. Wash this all down with a classic red sangria or the white peach and apple option, with a number of cocktails made with San Miguel also on offer.
You can also hire out the terrace for summer parties, whether it be a corporate event, branch launch or birthday party, it would certainly make for a unique venue for your celebration.
