Yes, you read that right. The laid-back west coast rapper and less-than-laid-back Scottish chef are planning to open a restaurant in Glasgow together, the Daily Record has reported. According to Snoop, who is himself vegan, the restaurant would serve "food everybody could enjoy - food for the family. Burgers, mac ‘n’ cheese, fried chicken and maybe one or two local dishes like haggis to keep things authentic.”

This duo might seem like an odd match, but Gordon Ramsay and Snoop Dogg have actually been friends for quite some time. The soon-to-be business partners first met five years ago, on Ramsay’s show The F Word. Later, Snoop said, “I met up with my boy Gordon and he taught me a few things.” With regards to the restaurant plan in particular, he added "I have been speaking with my boy Gordon for a while about opening a restaurant together - but the pandemic slowed things right down."

The choice of location isn’t random either. Ramsay, who has some 35 restaurants around the world, originally hails from Johnstone, on the outskirts of Glasgow. Snoop, meanwhile, is a diehard Celtic football club fan and even considered buying shares in the team back in 2012.

Furthermore, this is by no means Snoops’s first culinary venture. The 50-year-old rapper describes himself as a foodie, adding “I don’t look like it, but I am. I love different styles of food, different cultures and different tastes”. His book, ‘From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg's Kitchen’, has featured in various bestseller charts since its release in 2018.

Snoop also teamed up with celebrity chef Martha Stewart for three series of ‘Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party’, where they welcomed celebrity guests to cook with them. In fact, Snoop’s urge to open a restaurant of his own could be because of Stewart: just last month, the 81-year-old opened her first restaurant in Las Vegas, The Bedford.

Aside from the location, little else has been announced about the restaurant. So, why not peruse the best restaurants in Glasgow in the meantime?
