The second venue from Pizza Pilgrims Thom and James Elliott isn’t simply a clone of their original gaff on Dean Street, but ups the ante and extends their hugely popular offer with new varieties, monthly specials and seasonal toppings. The guys have also taken inspiration from Naples’ hole-in-the-wall, street-scene friggitoria – so expect a whole range of moreish deep-fried morsels ranging from courgette flowers and arancini balls stuffed with slow-cooked ragù and Mozzarella to potato and mortadella croquettes. Other additions include pizza fritta (deep-fried calzone filled with Ricotta, Mozzarella and porchetta), plus desserts built around Gelupo’s artisan gelati – not forgetting a reprise of the Pilgrims’ signature Nutella pizza ring. The owners are also planning to serve coffee, sfogliatelle (Neapolitan pastries) and ice creams from a dedicated outdoor kiosk below stairs.
