Following the success of the original Patty & Bun in Marylebone, burger entrepreneur Joe Grossman has branched out with a second outlet across town. Occupying what was the Liverpool Street branch of dim sum chain Ping Pong, (directly opposite the UK’s busiest McDonald’s), the new 20-seater joint offers an affordable selection of handmade, British-bred patties in brioche buns – although there's a greater emphasis on high-speed takeaways. Either way, City types can expect an oddball line-up including everything from Smokey Robinson, Ari Gold and ‘hot chic’ chicken to a portobello mushroom version with slaw, garlic parsley butter and tarragon mayo. Smoked chicken wings, chips with rosemary salt and the odd weekly special complete the short menu, while the sharp drinks list includes an 'old skool selection' of soft drink favourites.
