St John arrives on Maltby Street

stjohndoughnut.jpgFergus Henderson’s third restaurant, St John Bakery Rooms will launch at Maltby Street market this Saturday.

The launch follows his Michelin-starred original restaurant St John in Clerkenwell and St John Bread and Wine in Spitalfields, though it is more closely aligned with the St John Bakery, which is just around the corner from the new site.

As well as providing breads and pastries for the St John restaurants and other wholesale clients, the Druid Street St John Bakery sells direct to the public on Saturday mornings. High demand has led to the launch of the new Bakery Rooms, which means that customers will be able to eat in for the first time. Hot drinks, wines and beers will also be on offer.

Bacon sandwiches are set to start the day, before attention turns to Eccles cakes, Madeleines and St John’s renowned doughnuts - with fillings ranging from homemade jams to chocolate, custard and salted caramel.

The Bakery Rooms will be open weekends only, from 9am-3.30pm on Saturdays and 11am-3.30pm on Sundays.
