Located in The Cavendish Hotel on swanky Jermyn Street (opposite the back of Fortnum & Mason, no less), Mayfair Bar and Lounge certainly boasts an attractive post code. The beautiful Georgian architecture of St James's Square is just minutes away, and the restaurant is easily accessible from a number of Central London stations, making this a great place to catch up with friends or take a pit stop as you're exploring the city.
Inside, Mayfair Bar and Lounge is just as glamorous. The deep red colour scheme of the lounge is matched by plush leather armchairs and sofas, and live piano music in the evenings creates a cosy atmosphere.
Meanwhile, the compact menu delivers all-day favourites. Start your day with smashed avocado on toast, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, or a bacon sandwich with HP Sauce. The brasserie vibe continues over lunch with easy going dishes like tomato and Parmesan soup, Caesar salad, steak sandwich, and a burger with dill pickles, truffle mayo and fries in a brioche bun.
From midday, Mayfair Bar and Lounge shifts into some more international small plates - you can sit down for a proper meal and tuck into Asian-style steamed buns with pork cheek, fish or vegetable fillings, as well as chicken wings, salt and pepper squid, and an excellent cheese selection from Paxton & Whitfield. Or, just hang out with a drink and nibble of marinated olives and maple syrup nuts.
In the afternoon, why not enjoy the venue’s ‘King’s Afternoon Tea’, created in honour of His Majesty King Charles by executive chef Julian Ward and head pastry chef Amanda Headley. This decadent afternoon tea has a selection of sandwiches, buttermilk scones and decadent pastries to finish, all served with your choice of tea and the option of adding champagne.
Just as important at Mayfair Bar and Lounge is the drinks menu, which features a range of still and sparkling wines, plenty of house spirits, bottled and draught beers, and signature cocktails, including The Duchess (ShortCross Gin, Italicus, lemon juice and soda) and the Royal Connection (Panarea Island Gin, Benedictine, vanilla Champagne, gold leaf).
