Kazu is founded and led by Dham Kodituwakku (Kodi), the former head chef at Chisou in Mayfair, and an impressive name in Japanese cuisine with over 30 years of experience. Here, his team aim to bring together tradition and heritage, with a contemporary look and feel, within this beautiful, stylish space. The main restaurant is open and lofty, with plenty of natural light and using mainly natural materials and colours. It has a minimalist feel, working for large groups on wide tables, or smaller gatherings, too.
But, if you'd like your own, completely exclusive space, you need to check out the private dining room. Chic and compact, this space has capacity for 12 people and while there is no hire fee per se, the restaurant asks for £10 per person to secure their place. You're welcome to enjoy lunch or dinner here, with options to choose from the main menu or work with the chefs on something bespoke.
The menu is large and covers over 100 much-loved Japanese dishes. To get a feel of what you can try, there's the likes of omakase sashimi as selected by the chef, a mix of inside-out rolls such as spicy salmon or soft-shell crab, and noodle classics like chicken soba or udon. As for dessert, we like the sound of the Dorayaki, which is a Japanese pancake and can be filled with strawberries and cream.
